Making space to Discover, Explore, Respond and Flourish

the VISION

Since opening its doors in 1999, Lendrick Muir has grown into a vibrant hub for  residential experiences,  welcoming over 11,000 guests each year. From school residentials to holidays and weekends, training events and the Magnitude festival, Lendrick Muir is alive with activity almost all year round.

Lendrick Muir is dedicated to Scotland’s children and young people, creating life-changing experiences that have a lasting, transformational impact.  Young lives are impacted through spending time with our caring, experienced team members, building positive relationships, trying new activities and growing in confidence.

With demand for spaces continuing to grow and a significant legacy to build on, we now have an exciting opportunity to take the impact of the centre to the next level.

"The opportunity to substantially expand our capacity at Lendrick Muir, and make a step-change to what we can offer the children and young people of Scotland, could not be more timely. Last month (December '25), we saw the Schools (Residential Outdoor Education) (Scotland) Bill passed in the Scottish Parliament. This landmark legislation will mean that all school pupils will be given the opportunity of an outdoor education residential, another clear indicator of the need to expand our provision. We have carefully considered this project over many months and feel now is the time to make this ambitious, bold move to be able to welcome more of Scotland’s children and young people..."

Robin MacLellan, SU Scotland Chief Executive Officer.

the PROJECT

Featuring a striking new wing designed to complement the existing mansion house, the project involves removing the area of the centre known as ‘Glendevon’ and the central link buildings (excluding the Sports Hall),  remodelling sections of the main house, and creating a modern, connecting space.  There will be increased bedroom and meeting accommodation capacity across two floors, a spacious, accessible entranceway, and a central kitchen/dining space on the ground level.

Overall  capacity  is set to  increase  from 166 to 190, enabling  around  2,000  more  children and young people to benefit from a life-changing residential experience each year.

Work is planned to begin in Autumn 2026, with the Glendevon Unit closing in mid-October. The main building will continue welcoming guests throughout the estimated 15-month build, and we’re aiming to unveil the new space in early 2028.  Extensive efforts are being made to ensure the Main House (Moubray and Ochil Units) continues to remain functional and safe for use by groups throughout the development period.
