At SU Scotland, we have been providing school residential trips at our outdoor activity centres for over 30 years.

From activity days, to school residentials, to multi-week programmes, there’s so much you can do at Gowanbank.

Accommodation

Gowanbank has 48 beds and is located in the town of Darvel, East Ayrshire. With a high standard of accommodation, including 10 spacious en-suite bedrooms, the centre is an ideal size for a class group or small year group.

Our mix of on-site and off-site activities make Gowanbank a perfect location for a multi-activity school residential or an activity day. We also have a number of break out rooms, ideal for in-service training days for teachers, prefects' training events, music rehearsals and study events.

And why not make the most of being in Ayrshire? We have some amazing learning opportunities nearby. Darvel is the birthplace of Sir Alexander Fleming, Robert Burns lived in Mauchline, just 20 minutes away, and Glasgow is just 35 minutes along the road, where you can spend a day visiting some of the cities incredible museums.

We offer both residential and day experiences and would love to partner with your school to help bring outdoor learning to life.

Food

We provide full catering for school bookings with homemade food and a choice for evening meals. We cater for all special dietary needs and are always happy to discuss any requirements ahead of your visit.

We encourage all pupils to be open minded and try new foods but there will always be an alternative available, so no one goes hungry.
